Day Three Hundred and Sixty Five

Well that's that. I posted every single day in 2010 for 365 days! I am really proud of myself that I did it. It has been an interesting year for sure. I probably did a lot more this year that I wouldn't have done if I didn't have my blog to keep me accountable.
Here are ten new things I did this year:
  1. Roller Derby
  2. Broke my leg (see #1)
  3. Visited Forks and took the unnoficial Twilight tour
  4. Grew stuff in my garden (plants and veges)
  5. Tried new recipes and learned how to bake things inside of cupcakes
  6. Was unemployed for six months
  7. Set up a re-occuring movie night with my favorite WA family
  8. Went to Canada
  9. Made homemade flavored liquor
  10. Went to a firefighter calendar judging contest.
  11. Oh.. and one more Knitting! How can I forget knitting. One awesome thing about breaking my leg (besides the cool scar) was that I started knitting and I haven't stopped!
Using a random number generator I found online, here are things I did on five random days:

Zach called from basic training today. He was able to use his cell phone for like 10 minutes. It was great to hear from him and it seems like he is doing good. He did mention he has been homesick a few times, but said he is also adjusting well.

That's my boy! I am so proud of him! Let's hope the years of videogame playing and competitive swimming has trained him well for this! :)

Busy day today! I had to give a presentation on GMO's (genetically modified organisms) and then a big ol' cumulative Chemistry final and I am exhausted! Chemistry is over for the quarter, but I still have  Biology test tomorrow and then the whole quarter is over. Then a  five week

What an awesome day. I went to the gym this afternoon and did some fast walking and lower body weights. I then had a nice snack of an apple and a piece of cheese that I brought with me to have on the way home so I wouldn't be tempted to go to McDonald's next door... and it worked! I drank TONS of water today as well!

Then it was movie night with the Charters. We finished watching True Blood Season Two and then had BBQ chicken, biscuits, and green beans to round off our southern watching.

I made some yummy salted caramel brownies (I baked brownies with a salted caramel in the middle) that turned out awesome. I think that is my new desert thing, baking things inside of stuff. Next week I am going to make cupcakes with KitKat's baked in the middle.

I also gave Christa the gloves I made her and she loved them. She keeps telling me I need to put my knitting on Etsy. I might just do that!
Drea joined me at roller derby practice tonight and guess what? ... Tomorrow we are heading to Fast Girl Skates so she can buy some gear and start going to practice with me next week. She really enjoyed watching the practice and has been wanting to do it for a while, too. Woo hoo!

I also found out that one of the new girls that trains with me is six monthsolder then me! I don't feel nearly as old now knowing other people my age are doing it :) Next Thursday I am going to join the pack and skate with the more experienced skaters. I am looking forward to it :)
I am sore and hungry and feeling great!
Though I don't plan on keeping a daily blog during 2011, I am going to keep a weekly blog. The new blog will be located at: http://52weeksofchristene.blogspot.com/ and named 52 Weeks of ... I am going to wait to post until next year (tomorrow) on my new blog a list of things I hope to accomplish, see, do, be, etc...
It has been an interesting year for sure so.... see ya next year!

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Four

I spent the second to the last day of the year fixing almost 200 blog post titles since I noticed I was one day off!  It took forever to do but now the days are all numbered accurately!

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Three

It never snows in Seattle! That is what I was told when I first moved here and out of the three winters I have been here it has snowed during two of them. Liars! It is pretty to see, not pretty to drive in. But it is an excuse to wear all the pretty gloves I have made! So much pretty!

Day Three Hundred and Sixty Two

Back to work and only a few days left to post on my blog this year! I need to come up with my new theme for next year soon!

Day Three Hundred and Sixty One

Well I made it back to WA. Barely! After being told by our pilot we were arriving 25 minutes early we ended up sitting on the tarmac for 30 minutes waiting for a place to pull the plane in. I guess it is kind of like searching for a place at the mall. I finally got to my car to find my battery was dead, of course.

When I got home I found a package hadn't been delivered because the 'apartment number' was missing; I live in a house! And my first paycheck was sent to me with my married name on it and an AZ address and AZ state taxes taken out of it. GRRRRRRrrrrRRRRR!  Hopefully this is a sign that next year is going to ROCK. It better!

Day Three Hundred and Sixty

My sister had gotten all three of us (me, sister, and mother) tickets to go see the musical Respect and we had an awesome time! It was so fun and we all stood up singing at the end of it. Such a great present! Thank you Susie!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Nine

I had an excellent Christmas dinner at Susie and Mikes house. The dinner was very yummy and consisted of prime rib, yorkshire pudding, green bean and corn casserole, stuffing, turnips, roast potatos, brussell sprouts, rolls, and... I think that was everything... oh and apple pie and custard for dessert! I am super stuffed!

We then played some Kinect (again!) and admired our gifts. Susie loved the book I got her! I was so excited for her to look at it. Such an excellent bu exhausting day. Oh, and the candy vodka turned out very yummy. I need to try the pear one myself!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Eight

Spent the day with Susie. We went and got her a Kinect as a present to her from Mike. We also hit some more stores and I got almost 10,000 steps on my pedometer. I really miss the wide open areas of Arizona as well as the beautiful blue skies.

I showed Susie how to make the candy vodka and it should be ready tomorrow. It was a busy, busy day and I am exhausted!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Seven

Braved the malls with Susie today to wander the shops at Santan mall. I hadn't been to this mall yet, it is relatively new. I liked it because it was all outdoors and very nice.

We also stopped at Barnes & Noble and looked at the Nooks. I am pretty confident I will be getting a Nook. Ended the day playing some more Dance Central and Kinect Adventures. Susie wants a Kinect now. :)

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Six

Busy day today hanging out with my mom. We had bagels with cream cheese and salmon for breakfast and then played some Kinect Adventures. After playing that for a long time we took a break and had lunch which consisted of salad and pizza.

We then broke out the Dance Central for Kinect and had a dance battle (as you can see in the picture my mom was moving so fast in Dance Central I couldn't get a non-blurry shot!)

Later we knitted  and then went to the yarn shop which my mom said was real close. I forgot AZ close meant around ten miles which in WA close that would be one mile. We are going to play with the Your Shape Fitness in just a bit.  Busy Kinect day!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Five

I got the airport like 2.5 hours early, luckily I had lots to entertain me while I was waiting. The flight was uneventful and when I made it to AZ it was overcast and sprinkling. What happened to the sunshine and clear skies?  They better be here tomorrow! Already went and visited with Susie and saw Mike and AJ and now going to knit and watch TV with my mom. :)

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Four

All packed and ready to go! Getting up early tomorrow morning so I can get my car parked off-site and get to the airport early. Not risking missing the flight for anything!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Three

I sold my huge beanbag today. They came by and picked it up and paid $50 for it! It took the three of us to stuff it in the back of her convertible (she had a mustang conv) and it still stuck out so they went to Home Depot to get some rope to hold it down. I now have some spending cash  for when I am in AZ and I am another step closer to simplifying my life!

I also got my Xmas card from Susie and family yesterday. Yay! Can't wait to see everyone! I am actually already packed except for my toiletries and stuff. That is how eager I am!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty Two

Had a fun filled day of paying videogames and hanging out with Cyn. We played Plants Vs. Zombies, Halo Reach, Dance Central, and Kinect Adventures. I think we had the most fun with Adventures and it wore us out! It is fun to view all the pictures it takes afterward because they are so natural and not posed at all!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty One

I finally got my badge for work today so now I don't have to wait for someone to let me inside in the morning. This also means I can go for a walk during the day too. Yay! It is the same picture that I had for my first contract when I moved here I opted to keep that picture, it is easier about stressing over what a new picture would look like and it is interesting to see how different I look after two and  half years!

Day Three Hundred and Fifty

Nothing exciting today.... just work.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Nine

Why am I wearing this cute little My Little Pony bandage on my finger, you ask? Well I got a package from my mom today and while I was opening my b-day present it kept poking me until it drew blood. I couldn't figure out what it was because I am a dork! I thought it was just the edge of the package until it I saw blood and realized that wasn't normal! It turns out it was the awesome colored knives I wanted! I am so excited to use them. I need to find some food to cut! And from my package opening experience I know they are sharp. :)

Day Three Hundred and Forty Eight

I noticed today that there seemed to be a standard look at MS and this guy in the picture seems to embody it. You can't see the beard in the front. But the bald head and beard is the total look and about half the guys there look like that. I didn't realize until after I took the picture that the volume was set to ON on my phone so it made a shutter sound when I took the picture. I had to feign innocence after that.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Seven

Well I started my new job today. I had to create a new GT to use for the forum and since the other two guys had "Mister" names I choose a Mistress name. First day was slow and I really don't feel I am going to like it here. I am going to continue looking for a different job, but I will stay in this position until I find one.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Six

I finished Sandra's mittens and hat today and they all turned out awesome! I really want to keep them for myself, but I will probably have to be satisfied with getting the same type of yarn and making my own. I hope she likes them!

Day Three Hundred and Forty Five

Christa and I went to see the movie Burlesque today. We saw it at the fancy theater which is always neat. We got to sit in lounge chairs and I had a dirty martini. The movie was okay. It started off really good but halfway through it went downhill. I am interested in the soundtrack though and might pick it up, it had some good songs.

Afterward we stopped at the cupcake store and I got a gingerbread cupcake that was pretty yummy, I will have to try making them myself.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Four

I decided to go through my closet and fold up all my gaming shirts and store them for future use. I was amazed at how many I have! One day I will get creative with them and make skirts and such out of them.

Did I mention how happy I am my hair is red again? I think it suits me much more then the blonde.

Day Three Hundred and Forty Three

I colored my hair red today, watched a movie about a serial killer (The Killer Inside Me), and did some yoga. I feel almost back to normal! I am hopefully starting working Monday, I haven't gotten the final word yet, but I sure hope I do because this is the last week I have unemployment insurance!

Day Three Hundred and Forty Two

Spent the evening watching MadMen and eating pizza and salad with Christa, Callie, and Allie. It was nice to be just the girls. Callie got a little weird toward the end and was pretending she was a turtle. Silly girl :)

Day Three Hundred and Forty One

I had my stats class final tonight and I am so happy I am finally done with that class. I think I am burned out from classes for a bit. Now I am going to pop some yummy spicy popcorn and watch a movie.

Day Three Hundred and Forty

After my exciting my weekend I didn't do too much today except relax and get started on Sandra's mittens. I should have them done soon.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Nine

Had a really nice day today. Cyn and Sandra came by and we played some Dance Central, we had a blast. We then went out to lunch at Claim Jumper and I got a red velvet cupcake for my b-day! We wandered around the mall and shopped and then found a yarn store to pick up some yarn Sandra wanted me to make her hat and gloves from. It was a nice relaxing perfect bday day :) Oh! And Sandra and Cyn gave me the sweetest, most awesome bday card :)

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Eight

Woot! Woot! I had such a blast my Saturday birthday weekend night! We went and saw banked track roller derby and then we drank our asses off!

We went to an awesome place called The Rock and  drank buckets of alcohol, literal buckets. I also had a really yummy pizza. It just jumped out at me because of the name and it was one of the few times that I knew what I wanted off the menu right away.

Oh yeah, and I still have the bucket.  Dawn and I did karaoke at a place called Thrashers and were very serious about it! We rocked the house! Oh yeah.... it was an awesome birthday night! And I have pictures to prove it!

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Seven

One of those days... nothing exciting to write about. This weekend should be chock full of fun though. :)

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Six

I drove to Hoquaim today to visit Riley and her new family. She is fitting in very well. They were so impressed at how well trained she was. They thought they were going to end up with a dog they would have to put a lot of work into and were pleasantly surprised that they found one that they didn't have to. I had lunch with them (Elk meat chili)) and then we took a walk to the huge lot and lake that Riley plays in. She is so calm around them and she loves the little girls. I feel more and more that I did the right thing.

Day Three Hundred and Thirty Five

Had to get up early again today to go fill out the paperwork for the job. I woke up at 7:30AM! I really need to get more prepared on waking up early. Luckily Susie text messaged me at that time so I couldn't ignore my alarm. So the paperwork is all filled out and I am just waiting for it all to process before I can start working, it should be within the next couple of weeks. AND a second bit of good news, Susie got my flight all set up so I will be heading to AZ for Dec 21st through 27th. A whole week :)
