Day Three Hundred and Four

Cyn and I went hiking today. It has been a long time since I have gone; since before the broken leg incident and it was exhausting. It was really nice to finally reach the top where the waterfall was, I really felt like I accomplished something!

According to CardioTrainer we hiked 3.2 miles, which took 1 hour and 49 minutes (with a break at the top to admire the view), and burned 1233 calories! So to treat ourselves we stopped at Costco on the way home and got a hotdog! We are planning on going again on Wednesday.

Day Three Hundred and Three

I am a knitting fiend! With the rainy overcast weather, Riley and I are staying in and watching past episodes of Dead Zone. While watching it I am constantly amazed at how scrumptious Anthony Michael Hall grew up to be. Who knew 'The Geek' would become such a stud muffin! Anyway.. back to my fiendishness; I am a knitting fiend!

Christa had asked me to make her some darker long gloves; ones that were more goth-like. We went to the yarn store and she picked out the colors. After clacking my magic knitting needles together for a while I came up with these!

They turned out awesome! I liked them so much that I contemplated keeping them for myself, but then decided that would be mean, so I am making another pair for myself, except re-placing the grey area with hot pink because I am just crazy like that!

Day Three Hundred and Two

It was a sunny (but kind of cool) day today so I decided to trim my tomato plants for the winter. After totally trimming them down to stubs I found there was other stuff going on underneath them. It looks like my orange pepper plant was trying to grow and a few other things. This makes me happy because that means next year I should have a whole bunch of veges growing! Yay!

Day Three Hundred and One

I finally decided to pack up my roller derby gear for a few months. I had to admit to myself that I had to take a break from it until I have medical insurance and all that good stuff. I will still visit PFM and hang with all my cool derby friends, but I won't be able to get on skates myself for a while.

It is such a sad moment because I love skating and hitting and not to mention the cool socks and booty shorts I got to wear! Luckily I can still wear the socks, they will just be hidden under my pants.

Day Three Hundred

Had a nice relaxing night watching zombie movies and eating pizza with Chad. Riley was a little jealous but she eventually got over it!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Nine

I made sausage rolls for movie night tonight and they turned out yummmmmyyy. I am glad I took them over there or else I probably would have ate every single one of them myself. We started watching a movie called After.Life, but it was so horrible we turned it off not even halfway through. We then started watching a bunch of shows on Netflix. Fun, relaxing night. :)

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Eight

Today was a beautiful blustery, rainy day and Riley and I went on a long walk. The view of the lake from the trail was awesome. I also learned that Riley is scared of high winds and flying leaves. She kept freaking out when the wind was blowing hard against us and the leaves would fly all around her.

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Seven

Last night I was woken up by loud banging on my roof. I couldn't figure out what it was so I went outside and saw it was storming like crazy. Wind was howling and blowing furiously, leafs flying all over the place, and pine cones falling from the huge trees that hang over my house and pounding on the roof and front porch.

I finally gave up trying to sleep and got up and read until it quieted down. Amazing how these deceptively harmless looking things can make so much noise!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Six

I had a busy awesome day yesterday. First Christa and I went to lunch and had yummy Mexican food. Which was perfect because I had been craving it. We then went to DSW (a shoe store) where I did plenty of drooling over shoes. After that we stopped by Gamestop where I did plenty of drooling over games (I am so easily pleased!)

We then went to Ben Franklins Crafts so Christa could find the perfect yarn so I can make her some long gloves and she also found a cool book on  gruesome cupcakes that had tons of recipes I want to try, especially the zombie's breakfast one!

The final stop was at Trader Joe's where I picked up a few bottles of three buck chuck and some ginger snap cookies. Yum! A fun day overall. See, mummy... I do get out every once in a while!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Five

Riley and I decided to mix things up and took our walk in downtown Redmond today. First I put on a hat and mittens I made. I LOVE the colors!
First stop was by the library to drop off some books. We then walked along the path that runs behind it and admired the awesome color changes on the trees. After that we went toward the streets and wandered around town a bit.

We then made our way back to the library where Riley posed in front of the blackbird statue and we read the stones on the floor.
I still like the one in the picture the best. I think it sums up so much about my life right now!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Four

I decided to suck it up and mow the lawn today before the rain starts again. It took forever and on Rileys side there were holes that tried to trip me up and of course all the spiders and webs.

One of them got me and tried to climb into my hair. I know it was trying to burrow into my ear and into my brain... but I stopped it in time! The yard looks great except for the clippings that are everywhere...but hopefully the rain will wash it away.

On a side note, the spider webs do look cool in the morning all covered in dew with the sun shining on them; but looking pretty and getting tangled up in their web are two different things!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Three

I had an interview today and it went pretty good. I thought of tons of witty and insightful things to say afterward, of course, but I think I ended up representing myself well. At least it was good experience since I haven't interviewed in so long. I did forget to take a picture after I got all prettied up for it though! Ahhhh well, next time!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety Two

Movie night tonight was just me, Callie, Allie, and Scott.Christa had to work real late for the Windows 7 phone launch so the kids and I made do without her.

I made mac & cheese for everyone, which turned out better then last time, but it still isn't exactly as I would like it. I need to work on that more. But luckily you can't really go wrong with cheese and pasta!

For the movie we watched many episodes of 30 Rock and then I put on Gamer for Scott, I can't believe he hadn't seen it yet! I always like hanging out with them, though I did miss mine and Christa's weekly gossip session!

Day Two Hundred and Ninety One

I was a good friend today and ran some errands for Christa because she is sick. I went and got her comp from work and picked up her prescriptions. I also told her she looks like a zombie because her eyes are all pus filled and scary looking. Like I said.... good friend!

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Nine

We went to the Black Eyed Burlesque show tonight and had a blast! The confidence those girls had was amazing. Cyn and Sweets got a little frisky after.... Actually we had had fun taking silly pictures of each other and I thought this one turned out cute. :)

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Eight

And my baking streak continues. I made the most awesome ginger cookies today. I decided to call them Sandy Spice cookies for a few reasons:
  1. They are rolled in a combination of sugar and cinnamon before baking that makes them look sandy.
  2. My mom (aka Sandy) loves ginger cookies.
  3. My friend Sandra loves ginger cookies as well, and I am going to give her some for her b-day this past week when I see her tomorrow!
Click on read more for the recipe!

Ingredients:
2 3/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon1 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Seven

Riley and I went over to Dana the dog walkers today to give her a check and hang out a bit. As I was opening the gate to get in one of the new dogs escaped and took off. I went hobbling after it and we finally managed to get it after about a half a mile. That dog could move! There were just too many dogs there today and we decided not to stay. Ahh well.. Another time.

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Six

Busy day! I had a phone interview at 2pm that went pretty good and then got an email requesting another phone interview with a different company on Friday. Then I had a stats test that I don't think I did that good on :( Ahh well.. other then that it has been a good middle of the week day, hopefully the rest of the week is good!

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Five

Movie night was awesome because Allie and I got to hang out for a bit while Christa and Callie were at the store. When they got back we watched Sorority Wars and ate quiche and mint chocolate chip ice cream. Such a girly night :)

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Three

I made a really cute hat today based on a pattern from Ravelry. It is so cute that I am going to make another one, this time in purple. I am really getting the hang of this knitting thing and the different things I can do.

Day Two Hundred and Eighty Two

I made some yummy cookies today! Salted Caramel Chocolate cookies. They turned out really good and are totally non-healthy. I know, I know... I will work on making them a bit more healthy, but here is the recipe for now. :)

Salted Caramel Chocolate cookies

Makes approximately 24 cookies

1 cup butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon course sea salt
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
8 caramels, chopped into fours

Cream butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until fluffy.
Add flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt and mix until combined.

Fold in pecans, caramel pieces and chocolate chips.
Refrigerate dough for 4-6 hours (or more).

When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350, roll into balls and set on baking sheet.

(Note: refrigerating is the most important part. If you don’t refrigerate, when the cookies go into the oven, the caramel pieces will sink to the bottom and stick to the cookie sheet.)

Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes.

Day Two Hundred and Eighty One

Sandra came over today so we could go to the skate shop and we ended up wandering around Wallingford and visiting some of the quaint shops there.

First we went to Fast Girl Skates to have them look at Sandras Skates, then we went to Archie McPhees to check out all the crazy stuff they have there.

Next we went to Molly Moon's, which we have been told has the best ice cream ever and had some salted caramel ice cream. Oh My Gawwwddd it was yummy!

We then stopped by the Exotic Bakery to check it out and weren't very impressed :(

All in all an awesome day!

Day Two Hundred and Eighty

I had a great time at lunch today with Christa and Steph. We ate at the Microsoft Commons and had lots of girly chat. Afterward I went inside Studio A and visited with all my former co-workers. I miss that place! It was nice to see everyone!

Day Two Hundred and Seventy Nine

I discovered that tomatoes continue to ripen even after you pick them, So I am using this contraption (I am not sure what it is called) to hold them in different ripening stages. When I pick new ones I move the older ones down a level. It is working great and I have tomatoes everyday!

Day Two Hundred and Seventy Eight

Movie night! We had teriyaki with cantaloupe for desert and I brought over some of my candy vodka for Christa to try. We watched Beauty and the Beast and High School Musical. Callie and I had a very giggly night. It was fun!

I went on two walks today; yep, two. Both of them 30 minutes long. Woo hoo! The colors are changing everywhere and it was beautiful to see!

Day Two Hundred and Seventy Six

I went to roller derby practice tonight fully intending on participating in the scrimmage, but after a few round of practice I realized I just couldn't do it, my confidence level was really low and my ankle was just not feeling well. I need to get stronger before I attempt another scrimmage. This video is what I should have been doing!

Day Two Hundred and Seventy Five

Went and saw The Social Network today and loved it. I think it really explains a lot about the whole Social Networking Generation. Definitely a must see for all!

I also turned myself into a vampire .... and went ahead and turned my mom and sis into zombies! Aren't we gorgeous?

Day Two Hundred and Seventy Four

It was an absolutely beautiful day out today and I really enjoyed my walk. The leaves are falling and covering the ground.which is great until they smack you in the face as the fall down! Other then that it was real nice. :)
